Setting Sun over the Kathmandu Valley
As the sun sets this evening over the Kathmandu Valley we are getting ready to fly home tomorrow. We have had a wonderful trip....completing our work at the orphanage ; making new friends there and also spending time with members of the Family of God Church; some of us meeting up with friends again and for others making new friends......it was also good to be involved with the building of the rooftop extension at the students building.......................... All will have lasting memories of this trip.............................
Morning Flight to Everest and a special afternoon one too......
11 of our party took an early morning mountain flight to Everest with Yeti Airlines and were back in time for breakfast. I took a similar flight back in 2009 with Buddha Airlines. Helen said during breakfast "Our plane was much better than yours(her husband Graham was with me in 2009...see previous blog ) it was bigger and the stewardess brought us food!" Looking at the photos of the two planes I had to concede that she was indeed correct. Not to be outdone I thought I would charter a helicopter to take me for an afternoon flight.Obviously with the jet stream and associated winds he couldn't take me too close but close enough to land nearby for a photo opportunity!! (above) This I was able to show Helen at tea time and put our breakfast conversation to rest! Da da!
There's only one team in Fulham....and in Nepal for that case!
There we go all the way from SW6..... The chairman of the Fulham Supporters Club, Nepal...its not Chelsea over here who are regarded as the biggest team in SW6 its Fulham....in fact there is only one team in Fulham ! COYW!!
Look what happens when you let men shop on their own!.....
Today is a day off before we return home...a day for shopping and relaxing......these two pictures show how Dave and John got on with their shopping..both have acquired some Nepalese headgear.....John is sporting a very fetching local pink saree. Dave rather bizarrely has not gone for local goods but has somehow acquired a NYPD T Shirt!

Gifts given at the Orphanage
We returned to the Orphanage today (Saturday) to say cheerio and to present some gifts to all the children. The gifts had been generously donated as well as made by Wendy Black for all the children...lovely washbags full of toiletries for all the girls and wonderful pencil cases for all the boys( as well as some sweets thrown in for good measure from Kez and Sally ). The children loved the gifts and we had a great hour or so with them. Two of the girls from the orphanage performed a local dance for us and there were songs performed as well. They were all very grateful for all we had done and we all enjoyed the week we had spent together with them.....................
The Roof is finished as well..........................
In addition to finishing all the painting the construction of the roof on the NBCBS building which is used for Student Ministry is complete as well............designed by David (Payne) sponsored by Kings Church with local labour force...as well as John, Geoff(his imaginary friend Chris)Graham and Andy helping putting in the electrics this week it has been completed in time for the opening dedication of the rooftop meeting place. Pictured here is a photo from our visit in March and a view of the new rooftop extension......
Finishing the Painting on Friday
A wonderful effort by the whole team and with some helpers from the orphanage means we have completely painted and decorated 4 bedroom dormitories and the guest bedroom...also the wardens flat, the dining area, the meeting hall, the kitchen and food store(no mean feat the last two),two toilets(interesting as well) and some of the stairwell( we then ran out of paint and time)................much of the electrics was sorted out as well....We have many before and after pictures of all the rooms but curiously it appears that someone either painted the three dogs as well(one of whom is pictured above) or alternatively some believe they have started following Hare Krishna!.....(Before and after pictured shown above)
